Biotic and abiotic factors
Abiotic Factors:
-Water: Water is a major abiotic factor because is creates and entirely new area for species to thrive. A large portion of the Galapagos species are at least semi-water-based, not to mention the hundreds of species of fish that live near the islands. Without this factor, there would be no fish, sea turtles, seals, and countless other species.

-Rocks and Rough Terrain: The rough terrain near much of the coastal areas gives many species a place to thrive. Animals such as marine lizards, seals, and penguins spend most of their time, and more importantly, breed in these areas. These parts of the island offer a lot to the overall biodiversity of the island.
Biotic Factors:
-Trees: Trees are a huge producer of biodiversity due to the homes they porvide for so many animals. The trees create a place for hundreds of birds to be able to make their nests. Without them, there would be very few birds and the overall level of vegetation would drop dramatically.
